Ariel Garten | meditation with technology

Ariel Garten meditation muse mom neuroscientist entrepreneur

How can I improve meditation practices?

Ariel Garten is a neuroscientist, mom, entrepreneur and co-founder of a company that creates MUSE: a brain sensing headband. It was exciting to speak with Ariel about meditation and how it can be a benefit for business travelers. Any interest in reducing jet lag, improving focus and being at your best you can after traveling then maybe meditation and MUSE might be a great fit.

“There are lots of great hacks. My son had his frequent flyer account since the age of two years, the moment I needed to start paying for seats for him.” – Ariel Garten

It was a great talk about how a passion for neuroscience and meditation has provided many opportunities for Ariel to travel, speak and share her passions with others. Maybe an unlikely career path to be able to travel but she found a way to help others and travel at the same time.

ABOUT

Ariel Garten: neuroscientist, innovator, and entrepreneur whose driving purpose is to empower and help others overcome mental obstacles in order to live healthy, happy lives and reach their maximum potential. Garten is one of the Founders of InteraXon, the makers of Muse: the brain sensing headband. Muse is the award-winning wearable technology that assists and trains meditation and mindfulness. Before founding InteraXon, Ariel was not only trained as a neuroscientist and psychotherapist, but also started her own international clothing line while she worked in labs researching Parkinson’s disease and hippocampal neurogenesis. Her creativity and entrepreneurial drive, combined with her fascination with the brain, lead her to bring together two like minded friends and together they founded InteraXon, a Silicon Valley backed startup that allowed people to control computers with their minds, the technology that sparked the creation of Muse. The technology was the feature showcase at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, where they allowed over 7,000 people control the lights on the CN tower, Canadian parliament buildings, and Niagara Falls with their brains from across the country. Muse is now used and loved around the world, in 5 languages with over 5,000,000 sessions of meditation.  Ariel and her team have been featured in over 1000 media pieces, including CNN, Forbes, Fortune, WSJ, etc. and recipients of multiple innovation awards. These days, Ariel can be found at home playing with her 2 year old or on stage across the world speaking about happiness, meditation, understanding mental health, empowering women in business, or telling her own innovation story, consistently giving her audiences the tools they need to help them become their best selves.
